Selena looked Nick up and down. "I bet," she murmured. Nick smiled and ordered a beer. He took a swig and then looked at her again. "So, what's a girl like you doing here alone?" "I'm not alone," Selena said. "I'm engaged to be married." Nick smirked. "I don't believe you." "Why not?" The corners of Selena's lips curled up in a small smile. "I'm a people person," Nick shrugged. Selena smiled a little wider. "What'd you say your name was?" "I don't believe I told you," Nick said. "Ah," Selena smirked. "So what's your name?" "You tell me yours. I'll tell you mine." Selena let out a soft, enchanting laugh. She stuck out her hand. ''Selena." "Nick." He shook her hand. "What do you do for a living?" Selena cocked an eyebrow. "What is this? A date." Nick chuckled. "Ah, evasive. Nice." Selena smirked. "So what's the purpose of this. To get me in bed?" Nick leaned in. "I'm not that kind of guy." Selena placed a hand on his thigh. "I don't find tht entirely convincing." "I bet." Selena laughed softly. "A guy like you doesn't just start flirting with a girl like me." "Flirting?" Nick smirked. "You're flattering yourself." "One of my many talents," Selena said. She leaned closer and whispered in his ear. "One day, bad boy. But not today." And she was gone. Disappearing in the crowd. Nick watched her go, but soon, he couldn't even see her. He downed his beer and walked out of the bar. He glanced around one he'd gotten outside and then climbed into his car. He waited until he was on the road before sending Joe a message. 'I met her. I'm still alive.' A few seconds later, Joe replied. 'A miracle.' Nick sped down the road until he pulled up in front of his condo. He hurried up to his level and then let himself into his condo. He threw his keys on the table and settled down on his couch. The door opened and Joe and Demi walked in. Joe sat beside Nick. "Time to go over the night's events." Nich sighed. "I was actually hoping for some peace and quiet." "No time," Joe murmured, setting up his laptop. He worked with computers at the agency, and he was a whiz at them. No one knew computers like Joe. "Can't we do this at work tomorrow?" Nick asked. "Nope," Joe said. Nick sighed again. "Got 'em," Joe called to Demi. He looked at Nick. "We set up a camera in the bar and we got some pictures. Here. Look." Joe showed Nick his computer. Nick looked at the picture. Selena was leaning into him, her hand on his thigh, a coy smile on her lips. "Absolutely not," Nick shook his head. "You're not showing that to Liza.'' Joe glanced at the picture and then a grin settled on his face. "Whoa, little brother." Nick rolled his eyes. "What were you doing at that bar?" Demi asked, leaning over the back of the couch so she could see the picture. "Nothing!" Nick insisted. "Everyone has different tactics to get information. Flattery was my tactic." "That's not flattery," Demi said. "It's seduction." "I'm still here, aren't I?" Nick said, looking up at Demi. "For now," Demi said. She crossed her arms. "You're going to have to be careful, Nick." "Demi-" he started to say. "Nick, every person who's been put on this case has been a man. And all of them have fallen into her trap. They think she cares about them, and they strt defending her. And then one day, they show up dead, with Gomez's mark on their foreheads. What do you think?" "That's not going to happen," Nick said. "Why not?" Demi demanded. "Because I am the job. And no girl is going to make me give that up," Nick said. "That's why he doesn't have a girlfriend," Joe murmured. Nick gave him a shot to the shoulder. Joe just chuckled in response. "All right," Demi sighed. "Don't listen to me. Would you like your coffin to be padded or plain wooden." Nick smirked up at her. "Plain. When I die, I won't be able to feel the pads." She rolled her eyes.
